Ok, I'm finally determined enough to sit down to do up the photos and blog about the trip. Rach L's internet is still down I suppose, so she's not going to blog about it. So I guess I'll have to be the one to do it. Darn. Alright, the flight there wasn't too bad, except I think the fried rice sucked. Ha ha. Only one person finished his food. We actually have assigned seats, so it doesn't have to be a mad rat race to get seats ya. We're leaving on a jet plane.. Posted by Hello From left, first row: Our farewell party, Gerie and Cass! The puny plane that brought us to Hongkong. The Valuair stewardess teaching us how to use the lifevest. See, the clouds are so fluffy and they look like cotton wool! Second row: I always get wing seats. EVERYTIME. More cotton wool. Lunch box! Third row: Yes, fasten your seatbelts! We have arrived in Hongkong! Whee! The banner that says "Relax, train will arrive in 3 minutes." My luggage, before SHOPPING. Ha. On arrival, we made our way to Ah Shan Hostel at Mong Kok. Kinda lost our way and looked like retards lugging our luggage through the streets of Mong Kok. Everyone must think we're mad. Ha ha ha. But it's a good experience! Everytime I travel, it's with a tour guide, so everything is arranged for us, transport, food and lodging. But this time, on arrival at HK, we had to arrange for our own transport, take the Airport Express to Kowloon then from there make our way to Mongkok by cab. Sights in the city Posted by Hello They have HUGE billboards! I think advertising in HK is really darn dirt cheap! The ads are like SUPER HUGE, plastered on the buildings. Mr & Mrs Smith and Batman Begins ads were EVERYWHERE! Every corner you turn, there's one of either movie or both. Esprit is huge there too, a whole building dedicated for it. Ebase is quite popular too, but I think it's cheaper in Singapore than in HK. We took a bus! And it was HKD$12 for a trip! Ok, people, be glad that we're only paying $1+ for our bus rides. Places we went Posted by Hello I love their MTR stations! Ha ha, so much so that I took photo of every stop that we were at. Except for the Jordan station, because there was no time! And we went to Madame Tussaud's! More of that later. The people Posted by Hello Ok, we're all camwhores at heart. Wahahaha. Even the guys. Every photo opportunity was not missed! Even in the crowded MTR (see 3rd photo from left, second row). The uncle behind was actually staring at us. Must be thinking we're some weird tourists. At Madame Tussauds, The Peak Posted by Hello Ok, the wax museum was fantastic la! Saw all the wax figures. Ho ho. I love Andy Lau! Can I bring him homeee? And saw MM Mr Lee Kuan Yew! So proud of him la. Click on the picture to see the bigger version. Got Kelly Chen, Hugh Grant, Bon Jovi, Lady Diana, Henry VIII, William Shakespeare, Yao Ming, Anita Mui, Michael Jackson, Charlie Chaplin, Teresa Teng, Beatles, Elvis Presley. The Room @ Ah Shan, HK MTR network and Food! Posted by Hello Alright, first 2 pictures in the first row is our room @ Ah Shan Hostel. It's really like a "bare-necessities only" kinda place. 2 single beds, a toilet, tv, dresser and mirror. That's it. No bathtub, none of those quilt blankets. Ha. But it's cool. First time staying in such a place. I felt like a backpacker! So fun! Forgot to take pics of Dorsett Seaview though. That hotel was great. Good service, room was great, near Temple St (night market) and MTR station! Recommended if you're on a shoestring budget. Shopping Galore! Posted by Hello Ah Shan Hostel is very near Ladies' St. In fact, it's just a junction away. Ladies street is like Bugis Village, multiplied by 10! And the price? Divided by 4.6! Heh heh. Esprit warehouse is a must-go! Bought both the pink skirt and black tank top with diamantes, plus a red jacket (can be seen in the MTR pic) and also an embroided tee for Mummy, all for only HKD$276! Gah. Share my joy! Ha ha ha. Eddie is a closet shopaholic! First night of arrival, we trooped down to Ladies St, he made his first purchase within like 20 minutes! But it was a good buy! A huge backpack that held our shopping for the next 3 days. Hee. Hongkong sales people are very aggressive la. See the picture above, third row, second pic, he is actually trying to get out of the stall, but the auntie is blocking his exit! He's actually looking at us for help, but, ha ha, it's more fun to watch la. But hey, he got a bargain k. The shades, original price, HKD$399, went down to HKD$40!!! New piece somemore. Cows. The Loot! Posted by Hello My buys! The 2 bags (gold & brown one) were bought at HKD$120. Hee hee. Actually each was HKD$120. Wahahahaha! And the gold woven belt, my best buy from HK! HKD$24! That's less than SGD$6. Wahahahaha. And I love rings! The one with stars look like the Meteor Garden, the one DaoMingSi bought for Shancai. Very nice! And the Hello Kitty one, got diamantes! I just had to get it! Mickey Mouse necklace looked cool too. Ok, I wanna go Hong Kong again! Like in September?? Hee hee! Disney Hong Kong is opening on September 12! 2 days after my birthday!! Whee! Aight. So, after waiting for so long for the trip, it finally came and gone. Damn. Too fast, I tell ya, too fast! Dangit. Managed to buy some stuff back for Mummy and Daddy, since they so kindly sponsored my trip there. Bought a pearl necklace, nail polish, mini-curtains for Mum and a shirt for Daddy. Oh yeah, Happy Fathers' Day, pops! Posted by Hello Hungry people are grouchy. Tired people are grouchy. Some guys actually take longer than girls to get ready. 7-11 in HK sells cheap umbrellas. It's better to bargain in English than in Cantonese or Chinese. Dimsum is cheap in HK! Wowee! I had my slippers stepped on like 235908 times throughout the whole trip. Someone snores like he's slurping soup. Dangit. Very loud! It is very difficult to decide between yellow and black. Melvin took such a long time to decide between yellow and black. We spent over half an hour in the shop before he decided, no, he wasn't going to get the bag. Only to tell us the next day that, yes, he's getting the yellow one. Ok. Not funny. Bah. Oh yeah, did I tell you guys? We almost missed our flight back. We only boarded the plane like 5 minutes before the gates closed. Last 4 passengers. Ho ho ho. So how was my trip? It was great! Awesome! Superb! Fantastic! Wonderful! Except for the second night, when SOMEONE, that neh neh, whacked me on my forehead, causing me to tear in pain and headache for the rest of the night. Bah. I swear I had a head concussion. Bleah. Alright. I'd better be off. Been at this for an hour already. Suan's birthday photos another day!! Prolly like tomorrow. P.S. Next time the officer at the airport check-in counter asks which piece of baggage belongs to you, just raise up your hands. o_O Ha. Private joke. Posted by Hello
